One-On-One Instruction

Quest Musique believes in the importance of individual instruction for learning a musical instrument. In music, the aptitudes, skills, interests and determination of each student vary greatly. One child may have strong sight reading skills. Another may want to focus on a certain style of music. An adult may learn at an accelerated pace because of comprehension level and a desire to learn.
The instructor, therefore, defines each program to suit the needs of the student. For beginners that would mean starting with a method book series to learn the basic techniques of playing the instrument and then assessing where to move on from there. The goal of each instructor is to make music instruction a positive and exciting experience for the student that will continue on for a lifetime.
Recitals throughout the year provide opportunities for students to participate in group performances as well, and to learn the self-discipline and cooperation required to play with others.
The Value of Music

Music is a gift – both for those listening and those performing. It is a language that all people speak that cuts across all barriers. Like all art, music is a form of communication, and the study of music provides an outlet for creativity and self-expression.
Did you also know that taking music lessons, especially as a child:
Enlarges areas of the brain and increases the capacity to learn?
Helps develop life-long skills of discipline, problem-solving, critical thinking and teamwork?
It increases co-ordination, listening skills, memory perception and concentration?
Creates a sense of self-confidence, poise and personal satisfaction?
A grounding in music education is scientifically proven to positively impact the entire learning process as well as bring countless other benefits to a person throughout life.

2. Trial Lesson

The Music School offers a 15-minute trial lesson/consultation free of charge to students interested in private lessons. A trial lesson might be necessary to determine a student’s interest in musical instruction or simply a chance to meet with the instructor prior to enrolling in lessons.
3. Lesson Fees

Lessons are $16.75 per half-hour.
(Price is changing to $17.00 September 1st 2008)
Payment is required for a minimum of a month at a time and is due the last week of the month for the following month’s lessons. Payments can be made in-store, or by setting up pre-authorized payments through auto-debit or credit card.
There is a $15.00 registration fee for new students. This fee is waived if the pre-authorized lessons payments option is chosen.
If lesson fees are paid for three months at a time in advance, students will receive a $10 in-store credit for the music store (may not be used towards lesson payments).
*There is a 5% discount for families with two or more students taking lessons or one student taking lessons on multiple instruments. The discount will apply to all additional students or lessons.
4. Payment Method

We accept Cash, Debit, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Payments may also be made by monthly preauthorized payments through your bank or credit card. Please make arrangements for this with the Music School Administrator.
*If a student’s lessons are after store hours, he/she may pay the teacher by cheque only (payable to Quest Musique).
5. Late Payments

We will give the student one week from the last paid lesson to make their payment. If it is not made by then, we will notify the student. If it is a recurring process, it will result in cancellation of the student's lessons. The student will be responsible for any unpaid lessons.
6. Attendance

All students are responsible for attending their scheduled lessons. In the event that a student is unable to attend:
Please inform the Music School Administrator as soon as possible. If 7 days’ notice is given for a missed lesson that has been prepaid, the student may receive a credit for that lesson which can be transferred to a future lesson. There is NO REFUND under any circumstances for lessons that have already been paid for. (The teachers are still entitled to payment for lessons booked.)
No Shows are treated as a missed lesson without proper notice. The student will not receive a make-up lesson or credit.
Tardiness results in forfeited time or lesson. The student can have his/her lesson of whatever time remains, but there will not be a make-up lesson or credit of the time that was lost.
Missed lessons by the teacher will be made up at a convenient time for both the teacher and the student or a credit given.
Make-up lessons are up to the teacher if he/she is willing to give the student a make-up lesson under the circumstances. It is up to the teacher and the student to find a convenient time.
7. Termination Of Lessons

A request for withdrawal from lessons must be made at least 7 days in advance of the last lesson.
*There will be no refunds or reimbursements on lessons for any reason.
